1. Three Steps Above Heaven (Fernando Gonzalez Molina, 2020):

Ache sees Babi in a traffic jam and jokingly calls her ‘ugly’. It would seem that a love story could never develop after that. Ache is a classic hooligan, conditionally convicted of assault, while Babi is a well-behaved girl. They meet at a party, and this meeting turns out to be loud, the girl decides to sort things out and wreaks havoc in the house. Bibi goes home with her ex-boyfriend, and on the way they are attacked by bikers – Ache’s friends. The guy is a coward and runs away. Ache drives her home. At first, he treats his relationship with the girl as a game, but later his feelings become real.

Interesting fact: Actors Mario Casas (Ace) and María Valverde (Babi) took their romance from the screen to real life. They also starred together in Michael Radford’s Anglo-Spanish film Mule.

2. If Only (Gil Junger, 2004):

Samantha is studying music in London. This American girl is beautiful and emotional, prone to impulsive actions. Her lover Ian is always busy, immersed in his work. This destroys his relationship with Samantha. A tragic car accident cuts Samantha’s life short. Jan realises that he has lost everything in this life. If only time could be turned back… If only he could live that fateful day differently… fate gives him a second chance. He must take advantage of it.

Interesting fact: In the film, when the moment of the accident in which Samantha dies is shown, you can see a protective helmet on the head of the stuntman performing the stunt in the crashing car.

3 – 50 First Dates (Peter Segal, 2004):

This story is somewhat reminiscent of Groundhog Day (Harold Ramis, 1993) but it takes place in the summer, and only the main character, played by Drew Barrymore, does not remember yesterday, over and over again. If you like the silly style of comedies with Adam Sandler, you will find this film hilariously funny.

Interesting fact: In the scene on the yacht, during the conversation between Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider, there is no sign of a shark bite on the left side of Rob’s stomach, although in previous shots he was walking around with stitches and a fresh wound.

4. Pretty Woman (Garry Marshall, 1990):

Perhaps the most obvious entry on our list. Everyone knows the plot of this version of Cinderella by heart, but it’s worth watching again – the film is great.

Interesting fact: On the film poster, Julia Roberts’ head was superimposed on Shelley Michelle’s body. In addition, Richard Gere’s hair is brown on the poster, but greying in the film itself.

5. La La Land (Damien Chazelle, 2016):

A musical about love that even those who don’t like musical films will enjoy. Yes, everyone sings and dances at every opportunity, but the music and dancing are so organically woven into the overall plot that it seems as if that’s how it should be – you don’t just win six Oscars for nothing, you know?

Interesting fact: Emma Watson turned down the role of Mia because she was filming Beauty and the Beast, and Ryan Gosling turned down the role of the Beast in that film to appear in this one.

6. Casablanca (Michael Curtiz, 1943):

Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, a brilliant script, beautiful music and gorgeous cinematography – this classic old Hollywood film is much more than just a romantic story, but even that is so poignant that you want to watch the film over and over again.

Interesting fact: The film’s premiere was timed to coincide with the Allied forces’ capture of Casablanca in 1942, which made the front pages of American newspapers.
