Shooting with a camera, shooting with a weapon
Fabien Martorell started his career in his homeland France, and he relocated to Los Angeles eight years ago, where he now resides.
The work of Martorell has is broad and complex, ranging from the dark and gory Tromatized: Meet Lloyd Kaufman (2009), about the legendary and eccentric Lloyd Kaufman (president of Troma Entertainment. and director of the Toxic Avenger, 1986), to the classy and elegant Unbelief (2015), about a hitman on his way to performing a very unusual task. It wowed the jury at the 2009 New York International Independent. The film starred Roger Corman, a father figure at Dirty Movies (Corman helmed B-movies and launched names such as Francis Ford Coppola, by producing his first film Dementia 13, in 1963).
Martorell has made two feature documentaries and nine short films, which have been selected and screened at prestigious international film festivals. His short film The Coin (2012), starring Christopher Lloyd (from Robert Zemeckis’ Back To The Future, in 1985), Kathryn Morris (from Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report, in 2002), based on the short story “Soul Murder” by David Mamet, won multiple awards and nominations.
He is currently in post-production of his second feature documentary The Guns Story with legendary guitarist Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns, Guns N’ Roses), Iggy Pop and Lemmy Kilmister.
