The 50 Shades of Grade trilogy already had millions swooning over the love story of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. With books, every scene is all up to our imagination, and it makes it surely exciting. However, the movie adaptations clearly brought a new life to the trilogy. Starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, it seems like nothing could go wrong with these adaptations as their chemistry is through the roof – although some would say their on-screen connection will take some time to grow on you.

I recently rewatched 50 Shades of Grey (Sam Taylor-Johnson, 2015), and I wanted to share some of the best love scenes they had throughout the film. What is 50 Shades of Grey Film all about?

50 Shades of Grey is where the story of Anastasia “Anna” Steele and Christian Grey began. It sets the stage for their slightly unique yet complicated relationship. If you’re unfamiliar with the movie’s theme, I’d like to give you a trigger warning because the movie is not for everyone. So if you’re not comfortable with potentially explicit content or themes of BDSM (bondage, dominance, submission, and masochism), I recommend you to skip this article because it’s what this movie is all about.

Just to give you an overview, Anastasia Steele is a college English Literature student who was sent by her schoolmate slash roommate slash best friend to interview the handsome and wealthy entrepreneur for their university newspaper. From their first encounter, their connection was undeniably strong. I guess it’s because of Anastasia’s innocent charm. It’s obvious that Christian was drawn to her, so he offered her to become her submissive – and that’s where Anna’s thrilling, slightly terrifying adventure begins.

The dirtiest love scenes

At a glance, you might think that this movie is filled with many explicit bed scenes because that’s what most people expect. However, you’d be surprised that there’s only a handful of love scenes (although Mr. Grey would disagree because as he said, he doesn’t make love… he does the four-letter word that starts with an “f”. Without further ado, here are the best love scenes in 50 Shades of Grey.

1. Anna’s first time with Christian (42:30 – 45:20):

Too tame? Well, I had to include this scene simply because it was a special experience for Anna, and it couldn’t have been better. Christian was very gentle, like handling a very fragile work of art. There was a lot of soft caressing, passionate kissing, and full of lust. It was romantic even, given that it was still early in their relationship, or agreement if you allow me, but the way Christian cared for Anna during that scene was so real.

Also, after this scene, Christian breaks his rule of not sleeping with anyone. I found myself laughing over this small detail, but I find it really sweet because I can really see Anna’s effect on Christian. This was the best scene for me in the entire movie in all honesty, so if you want to watch this movie, make sure to have a fast and stable internet connection like fiber internet so you can enjoy this scene as much as I did.

2. Shower scene after their first night (48:20 – 50:15):

Okay… first things first, this isn’t an entire love scene but it was very intimate. It’s the morning after they did the deed. They’re taking a shower together in the bathtub, and Christian is scrubbing slash, caressing Anna’s body. It won’t end there, of course, so they went to bed. But before something steamy happens, Christian hears his mother arriving at his house, which sadly ends this scene. It’s a funny scene, but it was soft and sweet. It’s like what really happens in real life, if you know, you know.

3. After Anastasia sent the “It was nice knowing you” text (1:03:20 – 1:05:31):

Christian and Anna had a business meeting about Anna’s clarification regarding their contract. She said she needed more time to think, and so she did. He gifted her a laptop because hers was broken, saying she could use it for research regarding the dominant-submissive relationship. Christian followed up regarding her research, saying he was already impatient (waiting for her decision), but Anna playfully replied, “Yes… and it was nice knowing you”.

Christian then went to Anna’s house unannounced with wine, saying he’d remind Anna how nice it was knowing him, then threw her to the bed. Of course, the necktie cuff is there. Then, Christian took a sip and passed the wine directly to Anna’s mouth. He then held an ice cube in his mouth while kissing Anna in different parts of her body. There was some spanking while doing the deed, so if that’s your cup of tea, then you’d enjoy this scene.

4 – Anna’s first red room experience (1:24:13 – 1:30:35):

This scene was probably the peak of the entire film. It’s the scene where Anna and Christian’s first time in his red room. Passionate kissing, lip biting, cuffing, commanding, and many more – it was the very first time they officially did the dominant-submissive roles. This scene is where Christian convinces Anna that it isn’t as bad as she thought it would be. The red room can generally be terrifying for those who don’t understand this practice, but with Christian’s help, Anna was able to, I guess, enjoy her first time.

Final Thoughts

Since I wasn’t able to read the book, I didn’t have any expectations from this movie other than the stereotypical thoughts due to other people’s reviews. However, upon watching, I realised that there’s more to the story than these love scenes, especially Christian Gray’s and what made him to be the man he currently is. Of course, the truth will unfold in the 50 Shades Darker (James Foley, 2017) and 50 Shades Freed (Foley, 2018), which I already have on my lineup. Hope you had fun as much as I did writing this!
